Program Information

Title: Aging & Community Services-Caring Connections

Description: Provides volunteers to socialize and/or help with errands to elderly, disabled and HIV positive persons. Services are available for minor home repairs, grocery shopping, errands, visiting, transportation, snow shoveling and leaf raking, money management and bill payer program. Unable to help with housekeeping chores. Clients must cover the cost of materials. Clients needing transportation must call 48 hours or more in advance. Coordinator is required to do a home visit with the client for a brief assessment before volunteer service can be started.

Title: Congregate Meals Program

Time: Monday through Friday. Lunch served at 11:30 AM

Location: Seymour Community Center

Description: The meals are served in group settings once a day, five days a week. At each site people meet, socialize and make new friends. The program coordinates with local senior and community centers to furnish a broad range of educational, recreational and supportive services. These services promote the physical, economic, mental, social, and physiological well-being of the participants. A nutrition education program is held at least once a month at each meal site.

Cost: Financial donations are essential to support the program and are always greatly appreciated. Participants ages 60 and older are encouraged to donate whatever they can afford. Those younger than 60 are welcome and need to pay $5 for the price of the meal.

Title: Homebound Meals

Time: Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Location: Meals delivered to participant's home.

Description: For those who are unable to come to a meal site, Meals for Better Living provides homebound meals. In order to determine eligibility for subsidized meals, an assessment must be made by an Aging & Community Services of South Central Indiana, Inc. Care Manager.

Cost: Participants not wanting to go through a subsidized system may purchase home-delivered meals for $7.
