Purpose: The Jackson County Sheriffs Posse is organized for the following purposes: (1) To provide assistance to the Jackson County Sheriffs Department in the maintenance of law and order in Jackson County. (2) To promote respect for the judicial and governmental structures of Jackson County. (3) To participate in various public functions; and to aid in the promotion of fellowship, cooperation, and understanding between the Jackson County Sheriffs Department and the general public.

Some of the functions the posse attends include: Red, White & Blue Festival, VJ Day Parade, Jackson County Fair Parade, Melonfest Parade, Fort Vallonia Parade, Oktoberfest Parade and Medora Christmas Parade.
