Purpose: Indiana Legal Services, Inc.(ILSI) is a not-for- profit organization dedicated to providing high quality legal representationand advice to low income people. To be eligible for free legal help from ILSI,a person must fall within our income and resource guidelines. Eligibility is determined when an application is submitted by telephone. ILSI cannot help people in criminal cases, and does not have enough staff to help everyone who calls. ILSI helps people in civil cases, including: housing, public benefits, health, divorce or child custody where there is child abuse or spouse abuse, consumer, education and access to justice (such as the denial of a court-appointed attorney in certain civil cases.)

Program Information

Description: Applications are taken by telephone at 812.339.7668 or 800.822.4774. Family law applications ONLY are taken on Mondays from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Applications for all other matters are taken on Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. or Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Cost: Indiana Legal Services, Inc. does not charge fees.
