''' Purpose:''' Nami is a support group for adults 18+ who have loved ones struggling with mental illness.
''' Purpose:''' The families and members of NAMI South Central Indiana are here to help! We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness.

"Support group:" We offer a once a month support group @ 6:30 on the 3rd Wednesday of every month @ the First Financial Bank meeting room. This is available for anyone over the age of 18 who is the family member (or close friend) of an individual living with severe mental illness...no registration necessary. This unfortunately has been put on hold as well because of this pandemic. We plan to resume meeting again once the bank opens its meeting room back up for public use.
Mental illnesses are brain disorders that are biologically based medical problems. Untreated, they can cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. This results in substantially diminished capacity for dealing with the ordinary demands of life. Mental illness can affect persons of any age and occur in any family. They are not caused by bad parenting and not evidence of weakness of character.
