Name: Introduction to the "New" Indiana's Early Learning Foundations
 
Dates: 1/18/2017 and 3/15/2017
 
Description: The Foundations are Indiana's early learning development framework and are aligned to the 2014 Indiana Academic Standards. This framework provides core elements that children should achieve from birth to age five in order to be ready for future success. The Foundations create common language and expectations for the early childhood field. The 2015 revision was based on research, feedback from practitioners, and work from professionals with expertise in each specialized area.

Description: The training will examine participant's current practices in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in the Pre-K and School Age classrooms. We will investigate what the research says about the importance of adding and enhancing these skills with children. Overcome anxieties about incorporating STEM into your program through creative and simple hands-on activities.

Description: Research supports the importance of play. Play, including playful interactions, simple play materials, problem solving, and outdoor play experiences is the basis of learning for young children. Develop strategies for making learning visible to parents and the community, using knowledge of play and standards including Indiana Foundations for Young Children to the Indiana Academic Standards.

Name: Meeting Curriculum Goals with Effective Lesson Plans and Authentic Assessment

Description: This training will look at what curriculum is for all ages, how to implement curriculum-including lesson planning-and how to link it all to DAP, how to explain DAP to families, child goals and observations, and what authentic assessment is. Participants will leave with examples of curriculum goals, lesson plans for any age, and how to complete authentic assessments to help build quality in your program.

Description: Family Engagement has become a buzzword. But what does it really mean? Why should programs engage with families and how can they do it effectively? And what about those families that just don't want to have anything to do with you? Participants attending this session will examine the differences between involvement and engagement and explore what it takes to shift perspectives to more fully engage families in their children's education. Participants will also be introduced to strategies and resources that will assist them in enhancing the quality of family engagement practices.

Name: American Red Cross CPR (Adult, Children, Infant) & Pediatric First Aid/Universal Precautions Price Increase
 
Description: Due to administration price increases from American Red Cross, SIEOC CCR&R has to increase our prices to be able to continue offering for these training courses. CPR (Adult, Child, & Infant) will be increased from $25.00 to $40.00 and Pediatric First Aid/Universal Precautions will be increased from $25.00 to $40.00. The price increase will go into effect in January 2017.
